TAB NZ is marking this year’s International Women’s Day (March 8) by highlighting the growth in women’s sport through boosted odds through the week.
Last year was a watershed year for women’s sport in New Zealand, with the Women’s Rugby World Cup Final in November finishing the year as one of the top 10 sporting events for TAB NZ by turnover. This followed on from TAB NZ commentator Pip Morris becoming the first Kiwi woman to call a full race meeting in June last year.
“With more global tournaments like the Women's Rugby World Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup gaining traction, women’s sport is starting to get much-deserved attention,” TAB NZ Chief Marketing and Customer Officer Jodi Williams says.
“TAB NZ punters are showing us that the appetite for more women’s sporting betting options is voracious. Betting turnover on women’s sports is up 25% on the previous 12 months, and since 2019, we’ve increased the number of women’s sporting events we offer betting on by 26%, and we haven’t finished.
“This International Women’s Day, we’re making a commitment to encourage our audience to invest literally and figuratively in women’s sport by boosting the odds of women’s sports.
“By boosting the odds of women’s sports we’re playing an active role in continuing the conversation, to show our support and demonstrate our commitment to fighting for equality in women’s sport, today and every day,” Jodi Williams says.
