A fresh round of Tiger Woods mania has made it all the way from Augusta National Golf Club in the United States to New Zealand, with TAB customers across New Zealand set to share in a payout of over $2 million if the 15-time Major winner wins his sixth Masters this weekend.
Just a year after Woods was involved in a car crash in Los Angeles, the golfing great is on the comeback and Kiwi punters are backing Woods in their droves to claim another green jacket on the world-famous course.
“Our team doesn't have Tiger among the favourites but punters have other ideas,” TAB NZ General Manager Customer and Betting Simon Thomas says.
“Our customers will win more than $2 million if Tiger gets to put on the winner’s green jacket at the end of the tournament.
"While we might not have Tiger as a leading chance, I reckon it’s our customers’ shout next week if they prove us wrong, and we might have to head back to the bookies’ equivalent of the driving range,” Simon Thomas says.
Tiger Woods is currently paying $41 to win the Masters. Jon Rahm ($12) is the current favourite, ahead of Justin Thomas ($13) and three players - Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson and Scottie Scheffler - on $15. Odds for the 86th Masters are available at tab.co.nz.
