When you bet with the TAB on the gallops, trots or greyhounds, take a punt on the All Blacks or European football, every betting dollar contributes to grassroots racing and sports in New Zealand as well as the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Kiwis involved in these sectors. Each year, around $170 million is returned to New Zealand racing and sports.
The TAB is a major entertainment business with more than 60,000 people betting with the TAB each week either online, on the racecourse, or through our retail network of around 550 outlets. Each year around $2.2 billion worth of bets are placed at the TAB. TAB Trackside is also the largest sports outside broadcasting operation in New Zealand, covering more than 1,000 race meetings annually.
The TAB employs around 460 personnel (full-time, part-time and casual), with the majority of these people involved in the various facets that make up the TAB operation scheduling daily racing for customers in New Zealand, selling racing and sports bets through our retail network, online channels, or the broadcast of racing on our national television channels Trackside 1 and 2.
