TAB Sells Radio Licences

TAB NZ has concluded negotiations, subject to meeting some sale and purchase conditions, for the sale of its AM/FM radio licences including supporting infrastructure and racing broadcast audio rights to Sports Entertainment Network Pty Ltd (SEN) and newly established Sports Entertainment Network New Zealand Ltd (collectively SENZ).

The agreement follows an open tender process to optimise and establish clear market value, with negotiations with SEN getting underway late last year. The conditional arrangement includes a commitment from SENZ to produce a two hour weekly Saturday racing preview show. Any details on the launch of the station and programming is a matter for SENZ. TAB NZ will have no involvement in the operation of SENZ.

The new operation is independent of Trackside’s existing live simulcast of racing which continues to be available through the TAB website, App and streaming services, however the agreement does include access to radio broadcast rights for domestic racing.

SEN have a proven track record in delivering quality sport and racing coverage in Australia and TAB NZ look forward to a close and mutually beneficial relationship in promoting and covering sport and racing in New Zealand.
